Why join the movement?
More than half of the world’s biodiversity is in the mountains. Support the families who protect the source of life.
-
✽
Protect wildlife and livelihoods in the roof of the world. Adopt baby yaks to support livelihoods of the last nomadic herder families in mountains of Bhutan. Their livelihoods and cultural heritage depend on living harmoniously in the mountains with nature, completely dependent on the well-being of their yaks for shelter, food, warmth and transport.
-
✽
Support women and children in Ghap village, a remote region near Mount Manaslu only accessible by foot. Nepal is among the poorest and least developed countries in the world. A third of the population lives on less than 50 cents per day. Half the children are malnourished, with mortality rates especially high in mountain villages.
-
✽
Mongolia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world. Women and children living in remote areas of Mongolia have few access to educational, health and economic opportunities. We support grassroots efforts to deliver opportunities and services to families and children in need.

Source Mountain is an impact initiative built by women, for women, aiming to uplift communities living in the world's highest places. Mountains host 5o% of the world’s biodiversity. We focus on empowering women and children in remote mountain regions. Through curated events and partnerships with local organizations, we aim to make an impact.
-
We proudly support the following organizations:
Peace on the Peaks: An initiative by the United Nations aimed at preserving Bhutan's traditions and supporting last nomadic highland communities that rely on yaks and living in the mountains as part of their culture and livelihoods.
Tergar Charity Nepal – Himalayan Environment & Life Protection (H.E.L.P.) & Nubri Basic School. Located on Mount Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain in the world and only accessible by foot, the charity provides education for children, animal and wildlife protection and training for women in Nepal’s high-altitude communities. The programme helps preserve the region’s cultural and religious traditions.
Asral Mongolia: Founded in 2001 by Ven. Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche with the support of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Asral Mongolia aims to combat poverty and support vulnerable families in Mongolia. The organization focuses on keeping families together, and empowering communities through education, medical aid, skills training, and sustainable livelihood programs.

Donations are distributed to our partner organizations based on project needs. A small portion is allocated for administrative costs to ensure effective program management. We are committed to transparency and provide updates on fund allocation and project impact.
-
Source Mountain is a community initiative driven and supported by members, informed by our local partners. We are currently not a registered charity. This means that we cannot provide tax-deductible receipts for donations. However, this also means as founders and a members club, we are accountable to each other and our partners and can ensure maximum impact and efficiency, where 100% of funds (minus essential administrative costs) goes directly to communities and our partner organizations to make tangible impact in the mountains.
If you require a tax-deductible donation, we encourage you to donate directly to one of our partner charities. Tax deductibility also depends on your country’s laws. We recommend consulting a tax professional to determine eligibility.
-
We maintain direct partnerships with the charities we support and provide donors with regular updates, reports, and success stories. We believe in full transparency and impact-driven giving.
