Mountains cover 25% of the world’s land surface. 50% of our global biodiversity is in the mountains.
Mountains sustain life. Yet the women and children who live in and protect our precious mountains and its biodiversity with their ancestral wisdom remain unseen in the global discourse on climate change. Their access to economic and educational opportunities remain inequitable and their future remains precarious in the face of climate change. We believe in protecting the source of life by honouring women and children in the world’s highest places.
Why It Matters
Mountains are home to Indigenous wisdom. The solutions to climate change are held within the communities, yet remain overlooked in policy discussions and solutions on climate change.
Women are the keepers of tradition. Yet they face systemic inequality and economic barriers.
Communities thrive when women are empowered. We are here to make that happen.
